What works
- Every browse list is plain server-rendered HTML — a real
<ul>of real list items, navigable by a screen reader’s list controls. - A skip link to the main content is the first thing in the tab order.
- Every interactive control is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring.
- Body text meets WCAG 2.2 AA contrast against its background; the interface colours were chosen against that requirement rather than checked afterwards.
- Results announce themselves to assistive technology as they change, rather than appearing silently.
- Animation respects
prefers-reduced-motion.
What does not work without JavaScript
The solver. This site has no server to ask, so the word list is sent to your browser and the matching happens there — which means it needs JavaScript to run at all. Rather than show a form that silently does nothing, the page says so and points at the browse lists, which are ordinary HTML and need nothing.
