LetterKit answers one kind of question: what words can these letters make. It does that two ways — a solver you type into, and 1535 pre-built lists you can browse without JavaScript. Both read the same 243,304-word British English list.

Where the words come from
SCOWL 2020.12.07, composed for British English. The exact categories, levels, counts and licences are on the word list page, along with every copyright notice reproduced in full. Nothing on this site is hand-typed: the lists are generated from that file when the site is built, and the build fails if the file has drifted from its recorded hash.
What this site does not claim
- It is not an official word game list. Collins Scrabble Words and the NASPA word list are commercially licensed; this site does not ship either. A word here may not be playable in your game.
- It is not a dictionary. There are no definitions, because the openly licensed word list this site is built on is a list of words, not of meanings. Adding definitions from somewhere else without saying where would be worse than having none.
- It is not affiliated with any game. Scrabble, Words With Friends and Wordle are trademarks of their respective owners and have nothing to do with this site.
What happens to what you type
Nothing leaves your browser. The site is a set of static files: your letters are matched against a word list your browser has downloaded, on your own device. There is no server to send them to, no account, and no log of what anyone searched for.
The rest of the paperwork
These pages are linked from the footer of every page, and from here so they are reachable by reading rather than by scrolling: sources (what the data is and how it is checked), privacy, cookies, terms and accessibility (including the one thing that genuinely does not work without JavaScript).
